According to a 2001 study, organizations generated higher returns if they increase their contingent workforce over 10 percent of their total workforce.

At HHS, we believe that healthcare organizations needs to maintain contingent workforce at 20-25 percent to help flex with census and acuity while optimizing staffing spend. To achieve the same, hospitals need to re-engineer their staff scheduling approach to duplicate best practices adopted by agencies.
